We are one of the pioneer Aikido organisations in India, practicing aikido according to the ethical, technical and philosophical principles transmitted by Kobayashi Hirokazu Soshu. We are teaching aikido in Kolkata, since 1992. We are a proud member of Kokusai Aikido Kenshukai Kobayashi Hirokazu Ryu (KAKKHR), the organisation responsible for developing and spreading the teachings of Late Kobayashi Soshu, under the guidance of Andre Cognard Hanshi.
Since 1992, official teacher-in-charge of KRA responsible for the development of Kobayashi Aikido in India is Pascal Mennesson Shihan.
We are registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961.
Aikido classes started at Calcutta Judo Club in 1990 by Sylvie Sohier Sensei from France. Under the guidance of Andre Cognard Hanshi and his student Pascal Mennesson Shihan, Academy of Aikido (India) was officially created in Kolkata in 1992. The founder members are as follows:
